WHY BENDINGS?

BEndings is a smash-up of the words beginnings and endings. In every phase of our life we encounter both an ending and beginning. It is within that time of shifting that we are given the opportunity to choose who we will BE.

In combining the words, bending stuck out as an appropriate verb for what so many of us do throughout our lives. We bend ourselves to fit in to the social norm, to get the job, to avoid the hard things, to be accepted, and to be seen. Every time we bend ourselves— a story is created, an image is born, a melody is written.

The work here is about that. It’s about the moment when we both end and begin. The moment when we bend. The moment that defines who we will BE.
